Different Kinds of Essays

What are the various styles of writing essays? These can be broadly classified into four: instructional fashion, analytical fashion, narrative style, and personal style. An article is, in general, simply a bit of writing which offers the author’s argument, but sometimes the definition is very vague, overlapping significantly with those of an article, a letter, an essay, a report, and even a brief story. Essays also have traditionally always been categorized as both formal and academic or informal and private. In addition, there are some critical differences between the styles.

An essay may be written in one of those four styles mentioned above, or it can be composed in any of these. The difference usually comes in the use of phrases or the option of language. Academic style is characterized by high level vocabulary that is usually employed to support an argument. The essay will more often than not use a variety of complex and words that are uncommon and will usually argue a single problem or thesis (or both).

Analytical style is used for presenting research findings and may contain citations of primary sources. These may be very detailed and also the essay could be a thesis statement. Narrative design, on the other hand, is commonly used when reporting an experience and is characterized by the use of anecdotes, personal stories, and powerful statements. Personal style is quite informal and depends on private opinion, which is normally left out of most essays. Additionally, unlike many styles, it wow essay requires little or no aid of facts.

It is vital, however, to understand the different styles in order to not confuse or become flummoxed by composing assignments and projects. Students should first become knowledgeable about the four basic styles and then study one or two each year. They should also be taught the way to properly spell different words and phrases.
